Newcastle III 5 – Ballyvea 0
Newcastle III’s continued their good start to the season with a 5-0 victory over Ballyvea in Kilkeel on Saturday. Newcastle opened the scoring after getting a penalty for handball, up stepped Micky Morgan and there was only one outcome a scuffed shot that somehow managed to cross the line. The second came after good work by Davy McKenna setup Philly Flood who coolly finished to the bottom corner.
After the break Newcastle continued to press and they opened up Ballyvea with some lovely passing that was well finished by Rodney Hazzard with a powerful drive to the back of the net. The fourth was a well deserved goal for Dave McKenna who had played well all day he took the ball down and beat his man they struck a lovely shot to keepers right that gave him no chance. The fifth goal was all Brent as they say in the super threes; Gibson took a pass from Hazzard and chipped a delightful shot to the top corner.
Special mention goes to the back four of Collins, Rice, Kelly and Harbinson who handled everything thrown at them and setup many an attack.

Newcastle 3 Castlewellan 0
Newcastle started the game at full strength with all players available for the derby encounter against the Town. The squad of players have been strengthened in recent weeks with some new additions joining the club. The Seasider’s dominated possession throughout the game with fluent passing starting from the goalkeeper through the defence and midfield to attack. The Seasiders overwhelmed their opposition with the speed of attack and created chance after chance only this week they were able to show the benefits of all their possession by going in at half-time 3-0 up through goals from Nathan Allen (2) and a superb long range strike from Clinton Boyle that gave the goalkeeper no chance. The Newcastle defence were never under threat and showed composure on the ball in defence and in attack. This was a great team performance which showed evidence of the intense coaching the youth teams are receiving. The Newcastle team comprised of Marc Reid, Rory Moore, Dylan Rooney, Ryan Bloomfield, Andrew Kidd, Conor Pimm, Richard McInerney, Clinton Boyle, Vinnie Rice, Peter Brannigan, John Yarr, Tyler Kinley, Brent Richie, Patrick Grant and Nathan Orr1.

Newcastle 4 Patrician 1
The Newcastle 17’s had the luxury of a full panel for their second game of the season but a few players were still carrying injuries which told for two players who had to be replaced in the first half with some recurrent injuries. The replacements showed strength in depth as their addition to the game did not change the dominance the Seasiders showed from the first whistle. A master class from Jonathan Scannell left Patrician wanting and they just couldn’t cope with the skill, agility and speed he produced throughout the game. This was clearly evident as all four of Newcastle’s goals came from the boot of Scannell. Newcastle knocked the ball around the park cutting Patrician apart at times creating a number of half chances and goal mouth scrambles between the goals scored. Chris McKay showed composure on the ball to deliver two defence cutting passes to set up two of the goals. For the second week Andrew Gallagher showed enough ability to create a number of goal chances but was foiled by some good defending or miss directed shooting – he’s going score some of these weeks! A special mention for Rory ‘Ray’ Cunningham an immense talent who commanded the Newcastle defence throughout the game. Full points from the first two games have given the Seaisders some wishful hope for a good campaign this season. The Newcastle team were Ryan Brannigan, Stephen Ward, Bryan Ward, Rory Cunningham, Aaron McDonald, James Maginn, Gavin Moore, Marty McMullan, Jack Maginn and Jonathan Scannell, Andrew Gallagher, James Sloan, Chris McKay, Josh Wells and Ruari Wells.

Newcastle 11 Celtic Bhoys 1
The young minnows of the club kept the start to their season going with another resounding win against a well spirited Celtic Bhoys team. The game took off at pace with some great phases of passing football allowing Newcastle turn defence into attack at will. It wasn’t long before the Seasiders got their goal scoring boots in motion as they put together a 5-0 goal tally by half-time. Newcastle didn’t let their opposition off the hook either in the second half as they kept piling on the goals to rack up an eventual tally of eleven goals. Newcastle scorers were Corry Smyth (3) a second hat-trick in two games, Ryan Kidd (3), Leigh Moore (2), Shane Burns, Aiden Fegan and Ruari Forde all one goal apiece. The good thing about this performance was the consistency of good passing which was a joy to watch and showed the boys are taking what they are learning at training onto the pitch to great effect. Newcastle defence showed great composure moving the ball from defence through Aiden Fegan in nets, Sean Og Kelly, Conal O,Hare, Louis Burns and Ruairi Forde. The midfield of Mark Young, Leigh Moore, Daniel Cunningham and Shane Burns showed for a second consecutive week their tireless work rate both in defence and attack to keep Newcastle on top and a front two duo of Corry Smyth and Ryan Kidd who always look dangerous and have the ability to score lots of goals. The young players in Oisin Kelly, Stephen Young and Daniel McKibben all got plenty of match time to show off their future potential.

Newcastle 0 Patrician 3
Due to most of the squad being unavailable due to other commitments, Newcastle were forced to field just the magnificent 7 and went down eventually to a three nil reverse. Two nil down at the half a quick rearrangement of the team saw Newcastle created a few chances that on a different day could have led to a totally different result with both Aaron McKibben and Thomas Dillon going close. They also forced a string of corners that due to lack of numbers went unconverted. The seven were Conor Rodgers, Aaron McKibben, Reece Weir, Thomas Dillon, Josh Lackin, Conor Magorrian and Michael Morgan.Newcastle Senior Notes:
